Preparing for English Education
![]() | About Me:I ama Junior at East Carolina University. I am currently studying English education and Classical Studies. East Carolina University has provided me with some wonderful opportunities to further my education and I am doing my best to take advantage of them. I plan on graduating in May of 2013. Upon graduation, I hope to find a job teaching English in a high school in Northern Virginia. As for my own education, I hope to work towards my Masters degree and eventually my Doctorate. I also would like to become a published author by the age of 25. We can all dream big!
I gather my strength and motivation from the people who lovingly support me everyday. I try to learn at least one new thing every day. Personally, I believe no morning is complete without a hot cup of tea. I also believe no evening is complete without falling asleep with my Kindle in hand.Simplicity can mean the most. |
My Goals for Education:
As I begin my journey into teaching, there are a lot of aspirations I have for my future. However, my main goal for my future classrooms is not based just on objectives in a curriculum. Those things are important, but education is so much more than that. I hope to motivate the students in my classroom. I want to inspire them and give them the necessary tools they need to interact with literature. I want to inspire them to write things of their own. Reading and writing are two of the most influential acts a person can participate in. Reading something can change an opinion. Writing something can release a feeling. The possibilities are endless.
If a teacher can provide students with the drive and the support, the fire even, to learn....students can achieve anything they set their minds to. My goal is to motivate students and make them advocates of their own education. I want the STUDENTS to be the focus of the classroom. The students bring meaning to the texts they read and by motivating students to care about what they learn, class time would be a lot more productive and insightful. A little motivation can go a long way. I hope to inspire students like my teachers inspired me.
